Cancun Cosmetic Dentistry Reviews

Browsing around the many options of dentistry in Latin America, I came across a Mexican dental clinic called Cancun Cosmetic Dentistry.

I found their website and studied them thoroughly.

Many patients leave their video testimonials and it seems that they have one of the best dentists in Mexico called German Arzate DDS MS which seems to be one of the top dentists in Mexico and also a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the American Dental Association. Also, he counts with over 20 years of experience and has placed himself over 7,000 dental implants. So experience and quality is what really matters when coming to dental health. Also they only use imported materials and their hygiene rules are more than superb. They receive hundreds of patients every year coming from United States and Canada. These patients get quality dental work at affordable prices.
They perform dental Implants, Snap on Dentures as well as any cosmetic dentistry procedure.
Now, the question is, why choose to get dentistry in Cancun?
Cancun is the top vacation destination in mexico, its like America with Caribbean beach! Their attractions include amazing beaches, ecological parks like Xcaret and Xel Ha, World famous Mayan ruins, nightclubs, over 200 restaurants and first class hotels.
This seems to be a great option for anyone looking to get affordable dentistry while enjoying time in paradise. Their prices can be 70% lower of what you can get quoted back in America. Fresno Dentist Reveals Secrets of Teeth Whitening

Having a beautiful smile may be even easier than you think. Many people achieve the look they’ve been dreaming of with our simple “bleaching” procedure.

How does teeth whitening work?
It’s safe, quick, and inexpensive. Just let your fresno dentist know at any appointment if you would like to whiten your teeth. You can lighten only your upper teeth or both the upper and lower, depending on how much you show when you talk and smile.

In only a day or two your custom bleach splints will be ready for you to pick up. We provide you with a special bleaching agent that you put into the clear splints. With only a few hours of wear per day, our special bleaching agent bubbles stains right out of your enamel in a very short time without altering tooth structure or existing dental work in any way.

When your teeth reach the desired brightness, only occasional treatment is needed to maintain your new smile. We’ll want to take “after” photos at your next appointment.

Dental bleaching can be used to correct tooth discoloration. Discolorations can be caused by staining, aging, or chemical damage to teeth. Using the latest in bleaching technology, we can offer a safe method for creating a beautiful “brilliant” smile. In cases of extreme tooth discoloration, crowns or veneers may be the only choice, but because of the low cost of bleaching treatments, bleaching is nearly always worth a solid try.

Ask your Fresno Dentist for more details?

How is teeth whitening done?
An impression is taken to make a specialized “mouthguard” or “stent” to hold the bleach against the teeth. The material is used each night for about 3-4 hours for a week or two, and at the end of this time, significant whitening will occur. In some cases, the change is nothing short of brilliant. For confidence in appearance, bleaching technology allows us to promise improvements in yellowing, aging or stained teeth. For very severely stained teeth, crowns or porcelain veneers may be more appropriate.

Considerations for Teeth Whitening
Over-the-counter bleaching agents are available for purchase at drug stores and pharmacies. However, since these products can cause harm to the gums and teeth, it’s better to use products that Bullard Dental practice recommends.

For more information on professional and careful Teeth Whitening, contact your Local Fresno Dentist or Bullard Dental Group Today at 559.439.9990.

Question by Tinkerbell: How can I get “pro bono” dental work or denturesI am single woman unemployed very low income & state won’thelp
About 4 years ago I was in an abusive relationship that at the end I was in the hospital in intensive care, beaten with a crowbar, most of my back teeth I had swallowed during the attack the rest had been broken off, cracked or chipped. I have since then been to the dentist one time when I had insurance, a job,and a family member that would help me out during the recovery. Right now I am unemployed,in a town that I truely don’t have anyone that I can rely on to truely help if needed,my living situation is I now rent a room in a home that has no real privacy, and my transportation is currently bus, bike,or walk and I can’t do that after oral surgery.Medical coverage in this state that I live does not cover “cosmetic” procedures and dentures,or bridges, caps, etc. are considered cosmetic. They will pay to pull all your teeth but they will not help get you new ones!! I like to eat.So..What can I do to get my teeth fixed and looking decent so that I can someday again smile.

Dental Health Insurance Options

Dental Insurance plans including Family Dental Plan and Individual Dental Plan are among the important coverage of budget and yet, the most neglected. Not everyone in America has dental benefits at work. Therefore, it is important to avail dental insurance plans to cover the expenses of dental care.

Since no dental insurance covers all types of dental treatment, it is important to choose the dental health plan that provides the widest dental coverage. Family dental plan offers among the widest coverage because it includes some members of the family at lower premium. In order to know which dental plan is the best, it is best to check several of dental coverage.

First, the best dental plan including individual dental plan does not set limits on dental visits or services. This dental care service includes teeth cleaning as among the most common. Inquire for more dental procedures that are covered by your dental insurance. Of course, you need to be realistic. Even when such dental insurance offers free services, there is a specified period to avail these.

Second, ongoing or existing dental problems are covered. For instance, before or upon availing the dental insurance, a tooth needs to be extracted or filled, then it is wise to know whether that dental circumstance is covered. Some dental insurance plans exclude this feature unless they avail exclusive dental packages such as family dental plan.

However, even individual dental plan is featured with this dental benefit. You only have to look for the right dental health care insurance plan because at most, cheap dental plans do not offer such service. Third, the best dental insurance plans include value-added services like orthodontia and cosmetic dentistry. This feature is rare.

Mostly, cosmetic dentistry benefits are available when the dentists are members of dental alliance and dental organizations such as the National Association of Dental Plans. One type of dental insurance is Indemnity, sometimes referred to as private dental insurance since the person can choose his own dentist.

Its coverage includes 50-80% of the expenses covered by the Individual Dental Plan or Family Dental Plan while the remaining percentage is covered by the individual or patient. Indemnity dental plan covers the fee of the dental office on a conventional fee-for-service system. Often, this type of dental health care plan sets deductible amount that varies a lot. Moreover, it limits the amount of services covered within a specified period.

To get more services from individual dental plan, it is best to check whether the dentist whose services you would like to avail is accredited by your dental plan. If the plan is family dental plan, it is even wiser since not only you who will be covered but the entire family as well. Also, having a family dentist has a lot of advantages.

Sedation Dentistry: What it is and Why it Might be Right for You

Although millions of people go to the dentist every day without incident, others experience anxiety or irritation. Fortunately, methods such as sedation dentistry are available to help ensure that patients remain comfortable and at ease throughout any dental appointment.

According to the American Dental Association, sedation is a safe and approved way to ease patients through dental appointments and dental work. Through safe sedation practices, patients who might otherwise have avoided dentist can access care with minimal to no discomfort.

How Conscious Sedation Works

First, conscious sedation is not the same as full sedation, where the patient is rendered entirely unconscious through the use of anesthesia. Generally, conscious sedation falls into one of the three categories listed below:

· Light Sedation (Anxiolysis): Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and, possibly, oral medications are used to promote relaxation. Patients who are minimally sedated will feel calm, awake, and responsive throughout the dental appointment. Although they may experience slight impairment in cognitive and motor skills while sedated, these patients will likely be able to remember the appointment later on.

· Mild to Moderate Sedation: Patients are given nitrous oxide, oral medications, or IV treatment to promote a deeper state of relaxation. One popular option is the “one pill” technique, in which a patient takes one small pill of triazolam (or a similar medication) approximately an hour before his or her appointment. In addition to providing the same relaxation benefits seen in light sedation, the “one pill” method usually results in the patient having little or no memory of the appointment. High-anxiety patients or patients needing a lot of dental work might be particularly interested in mild to moderate sedation.

· Deep Sedation: Less commonly used, deep sedation usually involves IV sedation. Patients in deep sedation are partially unconscious and will be unable to respond to commands; some patients may need assistance with breathing as well.

Who Benefits

Any patient has the potential to benefit from sedation dentistry. Generally, if you meet any of the below criteria, you should consider some form of conscious sedation for your next dental appointment.

· You have had a bad prior experience or generally dread going to the dentist.

· You avoid going to the dentist for regular check-ups.

· You know you will need intensive dental work done.

· You have a physical condition that makes dental appointments unpleasant, such as a heightened gag reflex, sensitive teeth, immunity to Novocain, or an inability to open your mouth wide for long periods of time.

Best answer:

Answer by bakfanlin
Natural teeth. The ones that grew in your head. Not dentures, false teeth or dental implants.
Yes, it would cover wisdom teeth under that description.
Sound natural teeth are the ones that grew with you… not some false teeth that you might need if you’re real teeth should fall or be pulled out.

Dental Health Insurance : Is it Essential for Best Oral Hygiene?

A dental health insurance plan is a method of making private treatment available to more people by offsetting some of the costs. We all know that regular visits to the dentist are essential for good oral hygiene, but with all the furore about the non-availability of places at NHS dentists, many of us have had to consider dental insurance. But is this approach to dental health care cost-effective? It seems that it depends very much on your existing state of oral health and consequently how much treatment you will need going forward.

Following changes imposed by the government which standardised costs for dental procedures under the NHS, many, many dentists withdrew from the NHS, leaving a shortage of capacity for new NHS patient enrolment at dental practices. This left many with visiting a private dental practice as the only option for primary dental health care., and costs for such visits can be prohibitively high. There are various types of dental insurance cover, and the more common plans are outlined below:

Dental Cash Plans

Dental Cash Plans are regarded as the cheapest insurance plan for dental health. Premiums can be as low as £2 per week, with the insurance paying towards both private and NHS treatments, But, with a typical dental cash plan there will be a fairly modest annual limit on claims, with the policy holder having to find the balance of any treatment costs. As with any insurance policy this limit will be based on the level on premium paid in by the patient.

General Dental Insurance Cover

This type of cover may be the best option for those visiting the dentist for twice yearly check-ups, and usually with an existing good to excellent oral health. General dental insurance cover is charged at a flat rate based on the amount of cover required, and no pre-assessment is necessary. At a minimum level, your check-ups and emergency treatments will be covered. The down side of this type of policy can be an upper limit on the number of claims per year, and a ceiling on the percentage of the cost of each treatment reimbursed. If you have an unexpected requirement for major dental work, you may find yourself with insufficient cover with general dental insurance.

Capitalisation Cover

With capitalisation cover, the patient must be examined by a dentist before the level of premium to be paid is set. The plan cannot commence before this oral health assessment has been completed. Quite simply stated, the better the state of the your teeth and gums, the lower the premium will be. Your premium will be decided for your dental care for the following year, and treatment costs will be covered no matter how many treatments that you will have.

Do You Really Need Dental Health Cover?

It is quite evident from the above that if your general dental health is good, if you have a solid and regular oral hygiene programme at home, and if you only go to the dentist twice a year for check-ups, then it is unlikely that you require dental health insurance. However, unforeseen emergencies and treatments do crop up, and by investing in a low cost dental plan you will give yourself some peace of mind. Your dentist will be able to help you by discussing the options for a dental health plan that is right for you based on your dental history, the current state of your mouth, and a projection of how things look for the future in your individual case.

Your dentist will be able to help you by discussing the options for a dental health plan that is right for you based on your dental history, the current state of your mouth, and a projection of how things look for the future in your individual case.

With recent increased costs in dental work, and most of UK dentists working privately, there has never been a better time to start looking after your teeth properly. Add to this the money-saving trend that has swept the nation after the credit crunch and maintaining good oral hygiene makes even more sense than usual. Of course, get regular check-ups by your dentist, every six months is ideal, but this can often lead to costly dental work. They say that prevention is better than cure and, in the case of teeth, this has never been more true.

Apart from brushing your teeth at least twice a day, there are many other simple everyday habits you can get into to help protect your smile. A good place to start is flossing. It is said that almost 90% of damage to teeth occurs between the teeth due to food getting stuck there and producing a corrosive acid. Flossing each day will prevent this, but eating foods that actively encourage your mouth to produce saliva, like apples and pears, will also help rinse the mouth of stray food particles. On the subject of fruit, strawberries apparently contain a natural tooth-whitening enzyme which can slowly brighten your smile.

It’s not just avoiding decay that you should consider, also look for ways to strengthen your teeth too. Our teeth get their toughness from calcium that we take in through food, and for teeth, the more calcium the better. Add some more calcium to your diet to help strengthen teeth and improve gum hygiene, with foods like milk, cheese and nuts.

Luckily, even if you live a fast-paced lifestyle and perhaps can’t always look after you teeth as much as you would like to, there are still plenty of ways to help improve hygiene throughout the day. Drinking plenty of water is not just good for your body and brain, but also your teeth as it keeps the mouth fresh and dislodges food build up. Likewise sugar-free chewing gum after snacks is great as it encourages saliva which prevents decay.

Finally, make sure you are getting into the right sort of brushing habits each day. Use a small headed or electric toothbrush and thoroughly scrub your teeth for at least three minutes, especially where the teeth and gums meet. Finish by brushing your tongue to discourage bacteria accumulating there, floss, and then rinse with a good quality mouthwash.

Sticking to a solid oral hygiene plan like this will help minimise any trips to the dentist but, when you do need to go, make sure you have comprehensive dental insurance cover, to at least take the sting out of the cost.

Was it safe? Was it effective? Did you feel anything or remember anything? On average, what was the cost? Thanks! :-)

Not all dentists will be licensed to do sedation – you can ask your dentist if he/she is and if they are not they will be able to refer you. Generally unless the dentist feels that the work will be particularly troublesome or lengthly then you will not be referred for general anesthetic, however you could have IV sedation [intravenous - a needle in the arm that makes you very drowsy] or RA sedation [relative analgesia - i.e gas and air!] at our practice we charge £120 for sedation on top of any charge for the dental work needing to be done! I havn’t experience either first hand so I can’t tell you how they felt – but if you have IV sedation you must remain at the practice for at least half an hour after treatment [all in all you should be there for at least an hour depending on how long the work takes], have someone collect you and must not drive/use household products like irons or kettles or sign any legal documents for 24 hours after sedation. RA sedation, you will be kept at the practice until you are fully round from the sedation [about 15 minutes] and then are free to go as RA does not impair your abilty to do things! Both types of sedation are completely safe and you won’t remember a thing afterwards! Hope this helped and good luck!

Cosmetic Dentistry : Sedation Dentistry – What Is it?

Going to the dentist can be a highly traumatic experience for many people, and sedation dentistry (or relaxation dentistry) has been of enormous value to many who face anxieties over dental procedures. Fear of the dentist or of dentistry is a huge inhibiting factor in many people’s dental health programme, and can lead to serious gum and tooth disease through not being able to make and keep regular check up appointments.

What is involved in Sedation Dentistry?

Dentists who offer sedation dentistry in their practices use two one or both of common types of sedation – oral conscious sedation and inhalation sedation.

Oral Conscious Sedation

The process which involves the taking of oral sedatives before a dental procedure is called Oral Conscious Sedation. The patient will adopt a feeling of well-being and become relaxed after ingesting the sedatives. Stress and worry over treatments will be dissipated, and the dentist will be able to perform any procedures necessary. The patient will still be conscious and able to comprehend and respond to any instructions given by the dentist, hence the name oral conscious sedation.

With the oral conscious sedation method, the patient will be instructed to take a prescribed sedative the night prior to the procedure before going to bed, and a further sedative in the morning on waking up. This means that the patient must be driven to and from the procedure. Many patients are quoted as saying that using this sedation method, they did not remember much about the dental examination or procedure once it was over.

Inhalation Sedation

The inhalation of Oxygen and Nitrous Oxide, commonly referred to as laughing gas, is called Inhalation Sedation This method of sedation is often favoured by dentists who perform sedation dentistry because of the rapid effect it has on the patient and the subsequent recovery speed after the procedure. The patient will sometimes fall asleep after the sedation has been administered and will often remember little or nothing of the procedures involved. Inhalation sedation has been widely used by dentists for many years.

Why Have Sedation Dentistry

Other than the patient anxiety factor mentioned earlier, sedation dentistry can be helpful to the dentists too, for example where there may be a difficult part of a procedure in an inaccessible part of the mouth, where the dentist may need to be necessarily a little more ‘rugged’.

For patients the benefits can be huge; particularly when there is a large amount of oral work to be done, using sedation this can often be performed in one sitting rather than over several appointments, thus avoiding repeating and increasing the patient’s anxiety.

Which is the Best Type of Sedation

While the choice of sedation is pretty much up to the individual, your dentist may advise on one method as a better option given your dental history and the procedure to be undertaken. Both types have their advantages, but the effects of inhalation sedation are shorter lasting and less prohibitive on the patient’s ability to resume normal day-to-day activities quickly.

Other Forms of Sedation Dentistry

There are two other methods of sedation dentistry – intravenous conscious sedation where sedatives are given intravenously, and general anaesthesia, which is normally only undertaken in dental hospitals, and is either inhaled or intravenous, or both.

The information above is for your general information only, and does not replace the need to seek personal advice from a qualified dental health professional.

How to Find Low Cost Dental Plans for Seniors

How to Find Low Cost Dental Plans for Seniors

Although most people are not aware of it, affordable dental plans for seniors are still available. It’s difficult for many seniors to afford traditional dental insurance because of the high costs associated with it. However, dental discount plans fit into most anyone’s budget, even senior citizens, many of whom are on a fixed income. This is how dental discount plans work.

Dental discount plans are not insurance. They simply provide substantial discounts for dental procedures to their members. Because these discount plans are not insurance there is no waiting period necessary before you can be seen, pre-existing conditions are included, there are no age limits and there aren’t any exclusions, unless you have already had dental work started with another dentist. In this case, you would have to have that work completed before you could see anyone and begin using the new plan.

This is what you need to do. First, you need to find a dental discount plan that offers services in your area. Second, you need to pay the membership fee, after which you’ll receive your membership card and information about the participating dentists in your area. You’ll normally have information that will enable you to see a dentist within one to three business days.

All you need to do is find a dentist close to you and make an appointment. When you go to see the dentist provide your membership card and have a basic exam done. This way you and your Dentist both will know exactly what needs to be taken care of. You are not required to have everything done at once. Tell the dentist what you’d like to get taken care of at that time and pay for it when you’re finished. When you can afford to have something else done simply make an appointment and get it taken care of.

These are the most affordable dental plans for seniors that are available, unless they have some type of coverage through Medicare. If you are a senior citizen and do not have any type of dental coverage, but need to have dental work done, I highly recommend that you look into discount dental plans as an option.

Pre-existing conditions are fine, there are no waiting periods, no exclusions, no age limits etc., the only stipulation of having a dental discount plan is that you must pay for your services at the time of your appointment. Dental discount plans are absolutely the way to go in 2007. I recommend that you if you’ve been considering buying a dental plan, that you take a good look at discount dental plans.

Porcelain Dental Veneers for the Smile you Always Wanted

Porcelain Dental Veneers for the Smile you Always Wanted

With so much attention given to the art of communication these days, it is difficult not to notice a person’s smile. Most people spend a considerable amount of time on their appearance: how they dress, how they style their hair, along with the type of perfume they wear. However if your teeth are stained and discolored it can diminish your self-confidence regardless of how much you spent on your wardrobe.

Today on the market there are many products designed to whiten your teeth and some of them work very well. But when your teeth are severely discolored, home whitening treatments may not be enough; you need the professional services of a cosmetic dentist.

A dentist can perform several procedures to whiten your teeth including cleaning, polishing and bleaching. If you consume products such as coffee and tea on a regular basis, this procedure will have to be repeated every several months.

For this reason many people prefer porcelain dental veneers; these stain resistant ceramic shells are bonded to your teeth and can correct many imperfections in addition to stains or discoloration such as gaps between the teeth, crooked teeth, broken teeth and loss of tooth height.

If you are familiar with porcelain or fine china you may be concerned about the reasoning behind using porcelain for dental work. It is the translucent quality of porcelain that mimics the appearance of a natural tooth that makes it outstanding and when attached to the tooth with adhesive it is incredibly strong.

In addition to porcelains translucency, it is stain resistant; porcelain has the ability to withstand the strongest espresso coffee on a daily basis and retain its luster permanently. There are also dental veneers made of a composite material as well, but they do not have the same stain resistant quality as porcelain.

When you compare the weight of dental veneers to crowns, veneers are much lighter and therefore much more comfortable. Their popularity is supported in terms of price; dental veneers are one of the most economical and effective corrective procedures in cosmetic dentistry. The most impressive feature of porcelain veneers would certainly be their natural appearance which allows you to feel wonderfully confident each time you smile. Porcelain veneers can give new life to worn teeth and make tooth discoloration a thing of the past.

Improving your smile is much easier to do today than it was 50 years ago, when porcelain veneers were first invented the problem was that the adhesive was not strong enough to secure the porcelain veneer to the tooth and withstand the activity of eating and drinking without becoming dislodged. It was only after many years of research and development that the right formula for the adhesive was produced to be used with the porcelain veneer that is available today.

Although porcelain dental veneers are strong, they are not indestructible, and usually must be replaced after a decade of use. Because the porcelain veneer is attached to the tooth with a specific type of adhesive, it is almost impossible for a porcelain veneer to lose its grip on the tooth. In order to remove a porcelain veneer it must be done by your dentist.

Porcelain veneers are attractive and economical but there are other alternatives that should be considered depending on the condition of your teeth. Cosmetic dentistry has many different procedures and it is important to discuss with a cosmetic dentist which procedure will best suit your lifestyle and your budget. As with all procedures you need to consider your medical history to make sure that you have enough information to make your decision.
